How to Apply as a Transfer Student

Transfer Entrance Information

If you have completed more than 9 semester hours (12 quarter hours) at another regionally accredited college or university after graduating from high school, you are considered a transfer applicant. Check out the following sections for information on how to prepare to transfer to OHIO.

Admission Criteria

Ohio University assesses applicants using a holistic, selective review. Transfer applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher to be considered for admission. If you have completed fewer than 20 semester hours or 30 quarter hours of university or college coursework, you must also submit your high school transcript for evaluation.

Criteria for More Selective Programs

Some programs or academic colleges have more selective criteria above and beyond general admission guidelines. These include Biological Sciences, the College of Business, Criminal Justice, the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, the College of Fine Arts, the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, the School of Nursing, Bachelor of Specialized Studies, Teacher Education, and the School of Visual Communication.
