February 22, 2024

In the ever-evolving landscape of academic research, staying ahead requires not only keeping pace with technological advancements but also leveraging them to their full potential.

Recognizing this imperative, Patton College's ASIK Stats Lab and the University Libraries are co-hosting a series of sessions to integrate cutting-edge tools and methodologies to support Ohio University researchers. Under the banner of "Supporting Your Research," this collaborative series promises to equip participants with invaluable insights and practical skills across multiple dimensions of the research process.

The first session, held in Alden Library, room 251 and online, on February 23 from 12-1pm will focus on literature searching tips and Zotero, a free and user-friendly citation management tool. Through an immersive workshop experience, participants will explore the capabilities of Zotero, from its seamless integration with web browsers to its collaborative features that facilitate team-based research endeavors. By mastering Zotero's functionalities, researchers can streamline their workflow, enhance collaboration, and ensure accuracy and consistency in their citations and bibliographies. More event information found on the University’s event calendar.

The second session introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI) to your research process and will be hosted in Alden Library, room 251, on March 8, 2024, from 12-1pm. The presentation will delve into the transformative role of AI in research, shedding light on how AI-driven tools are reshaping the research landscape by revolutionizing the way we explore, analyze, and discover knowledge. By harnessing the power of AI, participants will embark on a journey into the transformative world of AI-powered research, where efficiency, insight, and collaboration reign supreme. More event information found on the University’s event calendar.

The third session will provide an advanced session on structural equation modeling in educational research. This session will be hosted in Alden Library, room 251, on April 19, 2024, from 12-1pm. As in many social science disciplines, educational research mostly involves latent variables. These variables are often measured with several errors which are frequently disregarded when using first-generational statistical procedures. This presentation highlights structural equation modeling and its approaches and educational research use. More event information found on the University’s event calendar.

Through these sessions, ASIK Stats Lab and the University Libraries aim to provide participants with a comprehensive toolkit for research excellence and tailored help for OHIO researchers. Additional sessions will be offered in Fall 2024.

Both the ASIKS Stats Lab and University Libraries offer multiple help options to researchers.  Anyone can schedule a free appointment with ASIK Stats Lab graduate assistants for consultation on statistical approaches and select research methodologies (https://www.ohio.edu/education/ed-studies/asik-lab). Ohio University Libraries can offer you a variety of research support through one-on-one consultations with our subject librarians (https://www.ohio.edu/library/about/subject-librarians-archivists) regarding literature searching, resource organization, scholarly presence, finding data, and more.
