'Soft Relay,' an exhibition by alumni Haylee Ebersole and John Burt Sanders

The Ohio University School of Art + Design is proud to present an exhibition by two alumni, “Soft Relay,” by Haylee Ebersole and John Burt Sanders.

Ebersole and Sanders will also serve as jurors for this year’s annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition (UJE) which will be completely digital with detail forthcoming. They will offer a lecture discussing their respective practices and follow with an announcement of the awards for the UJE.

The School is excited to host this alumni exhibition to showcase the talented artists who have emerged from the school. This will be the first time that the two have shown their work together in several years, linking sculptural forms with printmaking and painting.

Ebersole is an interdisciplinary artist working in sculpture, print media, and installation. She earned a BFA in Printmaking from Metropolitan State College of Denver and an MFA in Printmaking from Ohio University. In 2017, Ebersole was awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year by the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and was the recipient of a Creative Development Grant provided by the Investing in Professional Artist Grants Program, a partnership of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments. She currently teaches drawing and mixed media at Seton Hill University and is the founder of Meshwork Press, a neighborhood print shop in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Sanders is an artist from Arcade, New York. In 2019, his work appeared in the Northeast edition of New American Paintings, issue #140. He completed his MFA in painting and drawing at Ohio University in 2011 and earned a BFA in painting and art history at State University of New York at Fredonia in 2007. Sanders has been awarded an Artist Opportunity Grant from the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council in 2014. In 2014, he participated in an artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. Sanders currently lives and works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The exhibition will be available for in-person viewing in Trisolini Gallery, on the fourth floor of Baker University Center, Nov. 3-28. Current gallery hours are Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m., Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. COVID protocol and precautions will be followed. Trisolini Gallery has a limit of six people at one time with a gallery monitor to follow cleaning protocols after each visit.
