Summer youth and teen programs with the College of Fine Arts
Ohio University's College of Fine Arts is offering a wide range of summer youth and teen programs once again this summer.
The Summer Arts for Youth and the Summer Pre-College Programs offer a variety of outstanding programs for elementary, middle school and high school students from the region.
Summer Arts for Youth
The Summer Arts for Youth programs include high-quality, community-driven programs from Athens Community Music School and Tantrum Theater as well as medium-specific, exploratory offerings in Art + Design. Across the different programs, elementary and middle-school students will work alongside practicing artists and performers from the University community to develop and realize their ideas and their potential. The programs include the following:
June 13–17, 2022
- Tantrum Theater Drama Camp for ages 10–14
July 5–8, 2022
- Drawing for Animation for ages 10–14
July 11– 15, 2022
- Metamorphosis: Character Design + Costume Creation for ages 10–14
- Athens Community Music School: Summer Music Week Session 1 for ages 6–13
July 18–22, 2022
Summer Pre-College Programs
Summer Pre-College Programs in the Fine Arts are a unique experience where students ages 14-18 work with award-winning artists to improve skills and techniques, create meaningful personal work, and earn college credit. The summer programs include the following:
Session 1: June 6–17, 2022
- Ceramics: Wheel + Fire
- Comics, Zines + Artist Books
- Musical Theater
- Painting + Drawing Studio
- Summer Film Lab
Session 2: June 20–24, 2022
- 3D Animation
- Acting Intensive
- Introduction to the Figure
- OHIO Summer Music Academy, with Band Camp and intensives in Contemporary Music and Digital Instruments, Piano, Strings, and Voice (finale concert Saturday, June 25)
- Summer Dance Institute with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (open to dancers 15 and older)
