Keeping Bobcats Informed, Aug. 10, 2022
Bobcat Parents & Families,
There's only a week left until campus is bustling with thousands of students. Speaking of campus and confirming what our Bobcats already know to be true, Athens has recently been recognized by Ohio Magazine as one of the best places to live, work, and visit in Ohio. We take great pride in our OHIO community and we can't wait to welcome all of our Bobcats home to kick off the start of another great semester.
With all of the excitement move-in brings, it may also bring unwanted stress or anxiety. Help your student prepare to return to campus life by reviewing the fall arrival guide, as well as familiarizing them with all of the campus, health, and safety resources available.
See you soon,
Kathy A Fahl, MSW
Dean of Students

Affirming what thousands of Bobcats already know to be true, Athens has been recognized by Ohio Magazine as one of the best places to live, work, and visit in Ohio.
Take care of your mental health
Moving back to campus, new social situations, academic pressure, and financial stressors can all cause anxiety and take a toll on your mental health. Know your resources.
Get familiar with 988
Ohio is now using dial code 988, a 24-hour hotline that connects you to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can use 988 when having thoughts of suicide, experiencing mental health or substance use crises, or worrying about a peer who may need crisis support.
Join a support group
If you're not experiencing a crisis but struggling to cope, feeling low, or just need a place to talk, try Togetherall. It's a free online community that helps you to explore your feelings in a supportive environment.
Welcome, International Bobcats!
International student orientation began this week and we couldn't be more excited. OHIO's Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) collaborates with the OHIO community to advance global diversity on campus and foster intercultural experiences. Check out all of the ISSS resources.
Young Women Mentoring
The Young Women Leaders Program champions female leadership by matching OHIO student mentors with local middle school students.

OIT Tech Tip
Don’t get hooked
What should you do if an email you get smells “phishy?” OIT hosts the Phish Bowl, a site that shows confirmed phishing attempts that have been received by members of the OHIO community. If you are not sure if an email you received is legitimate, do not click any links within the message. Check the Phish Bowl to see if a confirmation has been posted about the message.
