The new school year kicks off at Ohio University with a series of events to welcome new and returning students to campus. We're excited to join in this year with the Libraries' OHIO History Scavenger Hunt and a button-making session where you can create your own button with reproduced images from the Ohio University Archives.

OHIO History Scavenger Hunt

Explore the history of Ohio University and your new home by re-creating a historic campus photo for the twenty-first century. Choose your favorite scene from our list of suggested photos on the timeline embedded below or choose your own from the University Archives. Recreate the shot and share with us via Twitter or Instagram between August 23 and August 31. We'll choose our 10 favorites starting on September 4, with the winners earning their very own ceramic camp-style Libraries mug.

To share you photos with us, tag the photo with @AldenLibrary and #ReadySetOHIO. Your Instagram post can be either a story post or a photo on your grid, as long as we can see that we're tagged in it. If you don't use either of those social networks, you can email your photo to hagman@ohio.edu from your ohio.edu email for consideration.

Button-Making: Tuesday August 28, 7-9 pm, 4th floor lobby

Our button-making sessions are the second-most popular events we host during our #FinalsByAlden series, coming in second only to our visits with therapy pets. We're giving you a sneak preview of that Finals Week event during Welcome Week this year. Stop by Alden Library's fourth floor lobby between 7 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28th for a chance to DIY your own pin-back-style button using reproduced images from the Mahn Center for Archives & Special Collections.
