Military Credit
Supporting our Military and Veterans
At Ohio University, we recognize and value the contributions that our veterans, dependents, and military personnel make to our campus community. We recognize and honor the sacrifices that have been made through service to our country and appreciate the leadership and broad experiences that veterans bring to OHIO. That's why OHIO was among the first in the nation to receive the Collegiate Purple Star Award and has repeatedly been recognized as a top 10 Military-Friendly School®.
Credit for Armed Forces Courses
Courses taken while enlisted in the armed forces will in most cases earn you Ohio University Credit. The Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services and the National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training, published by the American Council on Education, are used to determine what credit might be granted. Once your coursework is evaluated, you will be able to view the equivalencies by visiting the online transfer credit evaluation.
An official military course transcript is required in order to conduct an official evaluation. The following resources have been made available by the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines so that you can have official transcripts sent.
Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) or Air University (AU) Transcript
Joint Services Transcript (JST)
for Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines (requires log-in)
jst@doded.mil
In some cases, education through Department of Defense schools may not appear on an official military course transcript or JST. In these cases, official transcript(s) from the appropriate DoD school should be requested.
Please contact the appropriate resource and request for an official transcript to be sent to:
