iCUE Spotlight: Oct. 16-22, 2017

Welcome to Week 8 of fall semester, Bobcats! It's a truly historic week because it is officially Inauguration Week for Dr. M. Duane Nellis. Be sure to attend the ceremony and become a part of OHIO history!

For additional information about the investiture and other inauguration events, as well as spotlights on some of the other things going on around campus, keep reading:

Love Yourself Week (Oct. 16-20, various locations on Athens Campus): This week of female empowerment is being sponsored by the OHIO Women's Center in partnership with the Women's Panhellenic Association (WPA), The Positivity Project and I AM THAT GIRL. Monday's kick-off events are No-Makeup Monday, followed by a workshop with The Strong Movement. Throughout the rest of the week you will also have the opportunity to visit an Art Exhibit featuring women doing what makes them feel beautiful, participate in Dine-n-Discuss: Queering and Queerying Body Positivity on Wednesday and take part in some Scale Smashing on Thursday before the week concludes with Compliments and Letter Writing outside Baker University Center's fourth floor entrance on Sunday.

Grad School Fair (Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1 to 4 p.m., Baker University Center 240/242): This is a great opportunity to explore graduate education programs throughout the Ohio region and get to know the variety of opportunities available in your area of interest. To access the full list of schools registered for the fair, log in to your Bobcat CareerLink account. Student and alumni pre-registration for the fair is requested for a pre-printed name badge, but not required.

Investiture of Dr. M. Duane Nellis  (Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2 to 4 p.m., Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium): The investiture of Ohio University's 21st President, Dr. M. Duane Nellis, will include an academic procession of distinguished faculty and delegates from other colleges and universities. The ceremony will include greetings from members of the University community as well as delegates from other institutions, musical selections, and the President's official Inaugural Speech. Come join us for the Investiture Ceremony to become a part of Ohio University's history. Following the investiture, a campus celebration will be held on the College Green (in the event of rain, the celebration will move to the Baker University Center Ballroom). The School of Music will present a Presidential Inauguration Concert at 8 p.m. that same day in Memorial Auditorium that is free and open to the public. And be sure to follow #OHIOPrez21 on social media.

Drop Your Shorts  (Sunday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m., Athena Cinema): Drop Your Shorts celebrates the talent of local and regional filmmakers - giving participants the chance to see their original work on the big screen. The only rule? All films must be under 12 minutes. At the end of the event, the audience will vote for their favorite film and the winner will be shown for one month prior to a regular-run feature at the Athena. Don't miss this opportunity to join host Yang MIller and support filmmakers in our community.
