Presidential Panel Discussion ‘Intentionally Global: Leveraging OHIO’s past and excellence to build our future,’ set for Oct. 16
A unique panel of experts featuring Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis, Chubu University President Osamu Ishihara, and student and faculty leaders will take part in a historic, entertaining and educational discussion on Monday, Oct. 16, as part of the Presidential Inauguration Week activities.
The Presidential Panel Discussion “Intentionally Global: Leveraging OHIO’s past and excellence to build our future,” will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Baker University Center Theatre on Oct. 16. The event is free and open to the public; all students, faculty, staff and area residents are encouraged to attend.
President Nellis and President Ishihara will serve as panelists for the event along with Zanesville Campus Dean Jeremy Webster, Scripps College of Communication Dean Scott Titsworth, University International Council member Professor Nancy Stevens and Faculty Senate Arts and Sciences Senator Associate Professor Nukhet Sandal, who also serves as the director of global studies for the Center for International Studies.
The moderators for the event will be Student Senate President Landen Lama, Graduate Student Senate President Maria Modayil and International Student Union President Carla Triana.
Drawing on their own experiences, the panelists will exchange their views on how best to leverage the role and assets of Ohio University in order to best prepare future generations of citizens and leaders with the capacity and enthusiasm for global sustainability.
This event is part of the Inauguration Week activities for President Nellis, with the formal Presidential Investiture Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
President Ishihara is leading a delegation from Chubu University in Japan to take part in the Inauguration Week events and to hold meetings on the Ohio University campus. Ohio University and Chubu are partner universities, and a public reception to welcome the Chubu University leaders to Ohio University will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Baker University Center Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room.
