Series explores new student org dedicated to immersive media, technology (VIDEO)
Ohio University Communications and Marketing’s most recent “Clubs Across Campus” video explores one of OHIO’s newest and most cutting-edge student organizations.
The Ohio University Immersive Media Association (OUIMA) is dedicated to educating Bobcats on how to create professional, finished media projects using state-of-the-art technologies that include virtual reality, augmented reality, 360 video and audio, motion capture and light field cameras. Founded by students who enrolled in the first virtual reality courses offered at Ohio University, the organization is open to all students as this emerging and evolving technology has the potential to be a game-changer in nearly every professional field.
In addition to learning about and experimenting with immersive media technology, members of the OUIMA are provided opportunities to participate in projects each semester, often working with partners from outside of the University. Some of the organization’s past projects have included filming underwater at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and capturing 360 video and audio at the Nelsonville Music Festival.
In this “Clubs Across Campus” video, one of the OUIMA founders talks about the mission of the organization and why there’s a role for every Bobcat at the OUIMA.
