MFA student Gattian’s Interventions create heightened awareness of everyday spaces

The Ohio University School of Art + Design proudly presents Hillary Gattian’s thesis show, “The Majestic: Interventions 8-11,” at Majestic Galleries, Nelsonville, Feb. 23–March 25, with an opening reception coinciding with Nelsonville’s Final Friday events from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 23. Refreshments will be provided.

Gattian, a California native from the southern coastal community of Ventura, creates installations that form a dialogue about order and simplicity while slowing down time for the viewer and heightening awareness of space and the everyday. She hopes to inspire the viewer to look for an escape from the disorienting, fast-paced and ever-changing world we live in.

Gattian studied architecture while living on the central coast in San Luis Obispo, before pursuing her B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from Sonoma State University. She currently resides in The Plains, Ohio where she is completing her M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing while serving as instructor of record for painting and drawing courses in the School of Art + Design at Ohio University.

The opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Majestic Galleries, 20 Public Square, Nelsonville. The gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. For additional information, please contact Connaught Cullen at the Majestic Galleries, Nelsonville, OH 45764, at 419-463-3775.
