First certificates announced for new professional development program
The Badging and Certification Project will provide on-the-job professional development opportunities for Ohio University employees through new learning opportunities recorded in Blackboard. The first badges and certificate should be available in summer 2018 with the full program launching during the 2018-2019 academic year.
The first of the OHIO Professional Development Pathways certificates to launch later this spring will be two financial tracks providing learning opportunities in purchasing and accounting. Each certificate is composed of a core curriculum, focused electives, and general electives. The full certificate structures will be available on the Professional Development Pathways website in April.
Each certificate will provide University employees with specialized knowledge required to do the following:
- Explain how funds are allocated, managed, and dispersed
- Demonstrate working knowledge of related policies, regulations, and terminology
- Properly handle transactions using appropriate University systems and tools
- Effectively and efficiently gather, process, and report information
The Badging and Certification project team has also reviewed input from the Competency Training Framework Focus Groups, the Training Advisory Council, and the Badging and Certification Work Group to identify other areas of interest for future development activities.
The project team used this input and a prioritization exercise with the Badging and Certification Work Group, to identify the following areas where new learning opportunities would have the most impact on campus:
- Organizing and Planning
- Conflict Resolution
- Problem-Solving
- Diversity and Cultural Sensitivity
Each of these areas will be explored further as new learning experiences and certificates are considered for the Badging and Certification Program.
