Swallow Press publishes Ohio University author’s book about blind baseball

An Ohio University author recently published a book about blind baseball with Swallow Press.

David Wanczyk, who works as a coordinator for special programs and as an editor of the New Ohio Review within OHIO’s creative writing program, has published his first book.

This month, Swallow Press, the trade imprint of Ohio University Press, published, “Beep: Inside the Unseen World of Baseball for the Blind.” It’s a fascinating account of this remarkable version of America’s pastime.

David Roth of Vice Sports wrote, “Beep is a fun and funny and supremely humane piece of sports writing, a reminder of what sports are for. Wanczyk tells a great story, one that's alternately gripping and goofy, that’s not only about a particular game and the people that play it, but about why we play games in the first place.”

Wanczyk will sign copies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Little Professor in Uptown Athens on Wednesday, April 4.

Last fall, columnist Joe Blundo of The Columbus Dispatch wrote about the book: http://www.dispatch.com/entertainmentlife/20170808/joe-blundo-book-reveals-intense-world-of-baseball-for-blind
