Hip-Hop mogul Master P to discuss entrepreneurship and mentorship April 22

Hip-hop mogul Percy Robert Miller, aka Master P, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2018 Ohio University Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Men of Black Excellence Awards Celebration.
The annual event will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in the Baker University Center Ballroom and is free and open to the public.
During his talk, the New Orleans native will share his personal success story and emphasize the importance of mentoring during his speech titled, “Sowing Seeds into the Next Generation, from Hustle to Financial Muscle.”
Miller is the founder of No Limit Records. He also is the founder and CEO of P. Miller Enterprises and Better Black Television, a former online television network.
In 2013, Forbes Magazine estimated Miller's net worth at nearly $350 million, which at the time placed him as the third-richest hip-hop figure in the world. During his career, he has released 15 studio albums and acted in more than 25 films.
Ohio University alumnus and NBC4 WCMH TV anchor Matt Barnes will serve as the master of ceremony. He joined the Columbus, Ohio, station in May 2010 as a sports anchor and reporter before being promoted in January 2016. In 2008, he graduated cum laude from the Scripps College of Communication with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
Several student awards will be presented during the event, including the Mr. Congeniality Award, Campus Involvement Award, Athlete of the Year Award and the Performing Arts Award.
The event’s co-sponsors are the OHIO College of Business, College of Education, Division of Student Affairs, Office for Diversity and Inclusion and the Multicultural Center.
