Southern Ohio Copperheads to open home season June 9

The Southern Ohio Copperheads will open their 17th season in Athens by hosting the Cincinnati Steam in their home opener at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, June 9. The home games are played at Ohio University's Bob Wren Stadium and admission is $5.
Ohio University President Dr. M. Duane Nellis will throw out the first pitch.
Third-year head coach Phil Butler will be accompanied this year by assistant coaches Chase Brackley and Connor Callery. The full roster of player names and schools can be found on copperheadbaseball.com.
The 2017 season ended with a final record of 24-18 after a playoff appearance came to an end against the Grand Lake Mariners. The Copperheads have several returning players, some of which have previously earned postseason awards from the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. In the home opener, they will be competing against a Cincinnati Steam team that had a regular season record of 24-18 last summer.
