Provost Chaden Djalali announces search committee for Ohio University’s Dean of College of Business
Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Chaden Djalali has announced that the search for the next dean of the College of Business is underway as of Oct. 21. This comes after Dean Hugh Sherman announced his intent to step down in June 2020.
The University has retained executive search firm Witt/Kieffer to facilitate a national search. To ensure a robust search, the search firm is charged with understanding the activities and the culture of the College of Business and communicating to the prospective candidates its tradition of excellence in academic programs, research and economic development.
Representatives of the firm visited OHIO on Oct. 21 to learn more about the College of Business and to create a college profile and position description for the next dean. They met with the search committee, college and University leadership, faculty, staff and other stakeholders to gather input.
“It is important that we hear a broad range of perspectives about the strengths and opportunities of the college, the strategic direction going forward, and expectations for the knowledge and attributes of the next dean,” said EVPP Djalali.
By mid-November, the search committee hopes to finalize a position description and work with Witt/Kieffer to begin actively recruiting qualified applicants. Early next semester, the search committee will assist EVPP Djalali with selecting at least three finalists to bring to campus for interviews, which will include open forums for faculty, staff and students to hear from and ask questions of each candidate.
Input from the University community, and that of the search committee, will be invaluable to EVPP Djalali’s deliberations and final recommendation.
Dr. Hugh Sherman has served as dean and the Corlett Chair of Strategy for the last 13 years. EVPP Djalali said under Dean Sherman’s leadership, the college has more than doubled the number of students, all while increasing its focus on student outcomes including retention, professional competencies, experiential education and career placement.
