Women in Grad School Conference registrations close Jan. 26
The Ohio University Women in Grad School Conference, Feb. 14-15, will feature co-occurring presentations and workshops to support the personal and professional development of graduate students.
The registration deadline is Jan. 26, however, the early bird registration deadline for currently enrolled OHIO students is Jan. 17. A portion of the registration fee will pay for lunch, coffee and water. Scholarships are available for students in need. These are the registration rates:
- Early bird registration for currently enrolled OHIO students closes Jan. 17) - $20
- Currently enrolled OHIO students (open Jan. 18 through Feb. 1) - $30
- OHIO alumni - $30
- All other registrations - $45

The keynote speakers are Dr. Tanisha King-Taylor, Jenn Bennett, Dr. Claire Kamp Dush and Rhiannon Childs.
Dr. King-Taylor, interim chief inclusion officer for the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and author, will share personal stories to motivate and inspire sisterly love during her Dec. 14 talk. Her book, “Out of Battle into Freedom,” will be for sale at the event.
Bennett, director of WellWorks, will discuss self-care strategies, habits and routines during her Dec. 15 morning presentation. Her passions are connecting with others and behavior change programming. While she lived in Tacoma, Washington, she specialized in programming for seniors and behavior changes.
Dr. Kamp Dush, associate professor of human development and family science at The Ohio State University, will discuss the gender penalty that women face in the labor market and outline strategies for overcoming them at work and home during her Dec. 15 lunch time talk. She recently received the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, OSU’s highest honor for teaching excellence.
Childs, co-founder and vice president of community engagement and social impact for the Ohio Women’s Alliance, will share strategies to fight injustice and ways to strengthen the collective power of women in the state during her conference closing presentation. OWA is a statewide coalition of female and femme community builders and leaders. In 2016, she helped organize the state’s participation in the Women’s March on Washington, the largest single-day protest march in U.S. history.
