Accessible OHIO: How to maintain accessibility when using temporary signs

How can I maintain accessibility when using temporary signs?

Temporary signs are frequently used to assist people to find an event, locate an office or designate detour routes during construction projects. When signs are not carefully placed they may block pathways or entrances, cause trip hazards, or block navigational information for people with disabilities. Three basic tips to avoid creating a barrier are:

•    Place signs to the side of pathways away from curb cuts, ramps, railings, doorways and door openers 
•    Assure the base of the stand is as wide as the sign (create a physical perimeter on the floor around the stand if the base is too small)
•    Keep existing signage, if accurate, exposed and maintain access to read Braille information
