OHIO cancels study abroad and travel experiences for Spring semester

Effective immediately, Ohio University is cancelling all current spring semester study abroad programs and travel experiences. Students are to return to the United States no later than March 20, 2020. Spring break programs will be completed as planned.

This decision was made based on the Level 2 global alert and the Level 3 alert for most of Europe that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued, as well as the Global Level 3 “Reconsider Travel” Health Advisory issued by the U.S. Department of State March 11. It also follows the University’s previously announced restriction on travel to countries with a CDC Level 2 or 3 travel alert.

Ohio University’s Office of Global Opportunities (OGO) is working with students currently participating in study abroad programs and travel experiences to ensure their safe and prompt return to the United States in alignment with directives the University issued on March 10, 2020.

The Office of Global Opportunities understands that many students on semester-long programs have questions concerning coursework and credit. Those questions will be addressed in the coming days, and updates will be posted to a new FAQ section (https://www.ohio.edu/goglobal/travelalerts) on the OGO website.
