Jenny Hall-Jones named interim Vice President for Student Affairs at Ohio University

Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis, today, announced that Jenny Hall-Jones has been named interim Vice President for Student Affairs at Ohio University effective October 24, 2020. This news follows incumbent Jason Pina’s announced plans to step down from his role at OHIO.

Hall-Jones, who has served in several key roles at Ohio University over the past 24 years, is a three-time Bobcat, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology, her Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel, and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education all from Ohio University.

Her work at OHIO began in Residence Life and continued in the Division of Student Affairs until she was appointed Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students at Ohio University in 2013.

“I look forward to the opportunity to advocate for our students in this interim role,” Hall-Jones said. “It is an honor and pleasure to serve my alma mater in this capacity.”

In her time at Ohio University, Hall-Jones has provided leadership and supervision to several division departments, including the Campus Involvement Center, Community Standards and Student Responsibility, Counseling & Psychological Services, Sorority and Fraternity Life, the Survivor Advocacy Program and University Well-being and Recreation. She has also established strong working relationships with faculty, staff and community leaders.

“Jenny is widely recognized for her open and engaging leadership style,” President Nellis said. “Her depth of institutional knowledge and experience will serve the University well through this transitionary period. I am grateful for Jenny’s dedication not only to the University, but also to our students as she undertakes this critical, interim role.”

Pina, who became the University's Vice President for Student Affairs in June 2016 announced he will join New York University as Chief Strategy Officer for Global Programs and University Life effective October 26, 2020.

“Jason has provided strong leadership to Ohio University over the past four years,” Nellis said. “We are grateful for his service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
