OHIO COVID Dashboard scores “A” rating from Yale professor site
Ohio University’s COVID Dashboard has scored a rating of “A” from We Rate COVID Dashboards, a website and Twitter account led by professors from Yale University. The University is only one of 20 other institutions to date to receive this coveted grade.
We Rate COVID Dashboards reviews the dashboards that higher education institutions have developed and published to keep University communities and the general public informed about the status of COVID-19 cases on their campuses.
According to the project’s website, the We Rate COVID Dashboards team includes Dr. Howard Forman and Dr. Cary Gross, professors at Yale University, and students and staff of Harvard University, Baylor College of Medicine, Yale, and The Ohio State University.
Ohio University launched its COVID Dashboard earlier this school year to keep its faculty, employees, and surrounding communities informed. The dashboard updates every Tuesday and Friday with the latest data, which includes the number of students and employees that have been tested on each of its campuses, as well as positive and pending results. It also includes charts that visualize various trends in the data.
The OHIO COVID Dashboard was developed by Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics in coordination with Dr. Gillian Ice, special assistant to the president for public health operations at Ohio University. The dashboard is prominently featured on Ohio University’s coronavirus response site, www.ohio.edu/coronavirus, and a new Twitter account, @covid_ohio, shares relevant data from it.
We Rate COVID Dashboards gave the OHIO COVID Dashboard a 10/13 score, with points for ease of reading and completeness of information.
Ohio University asked the site to rate its dashboard, and was pleased with the outcome.
“The publicly accessible COVID Dashboard is an important way for us to keep our students, faculty, staff, and communities informed about the COVID situation on our campuses,” Dr. Ice said. “While there are many different facets of our coronavirus response, the dashboard does a good job of clearly presenting the data from multiple sources. We are pleased to be recognized for the outstanding work of the Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics team.”
