Deadline extended: Spring Lab, Studio Supplies request form response due November 11, 2020
Ohio University faculty members have been engaged with The Lab Group, a committee charged by Provost Sayrs in August 2020 to identify the best options for meeting the learning outcomes for lab and studio-based courses that were offered remotely during fall semester. This committee continues to evaluate and recommend ways to support student experiential learning.
As we plan for spring semester, The Lab Group has produced a survey to compile a comprehensive list of technology, supplies, equipment, or interactive content needed to support remote experiential learning that will be recommended to the Provost for purchase. For spring semester, The Lab Group would like to extend the opportunity to request materials to support enhanced interactive learning experiences for students in all fully online or hybrid courses, including more traditional lecture or discussion/seminar-based courses. Examples of materials that may be requested include but are not limited to software, media licenses, at-home kits, interactive modules, and video cameras for recording demonstration labs. The deadline has been extended and the survey will close on Wednesday, November 11, at 11:59 p.m.

Requests will be prioritized in consideration of the following factors:
- Lab, studio, or other experiential learning-based courses
- Online fully synchronous, online fully asynchronous, and online hybrid modalities
- Courses that require experiential learning for accreditation
- Courses that require experiential learning to meet learning outcomes of program/college
- Materials for other courses that seek to enhance interactive learning and student engagement
- Materials that are needed due to COVID-19, that go beyond what would be used in a typical semester (Does not include PPE, cleaning supplies, etc.)
Procurement of these materials will be made on an expedited timeline; fulfillment of all requests is dependent on availability of CARES Act funding. For fall semester, over $250,000 of CARES Act funding was used to support purchase of materials and services recommended by The Lab Group.
If you have questions about requesting materials or using this survey, please reach out to Candice Morris (morrisc@ohio.edu) or Laura Myers (myersl@ohio.edu).
You are also encouraged to reach out to members of The Lab Group for ideas about enhancing your experiential and interactive online teaching.
