Dr. Sergio Robles named to Cleveland Fed’s New Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council

Dr. Sergio Robles has been selected to serve on the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council based on his outstanding involvement in civic organizations in Cleveland. Robles is one of eight council members who will work together with bank leadership to provide advice, strategic counsel, and feedback aimed at improving diversity, equity, inclusion, and opportunity at the Cleveland Fed and the region it serves.

“Having been selected for a seat on Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Advisory Council is a great honor for me,” Robles said. “I am a first-generation college graduate as well as a son of an immigrant family. My father only completed high school and my mother only completed the fourth grade. So, I know firsthand the challenges students of color, students from immigrant families, and students from first-generation families face.”

Robles is an assistant professor of instruction in marketing and teaches consumer behavior courses in the College of Business. He is also a faculty advisor for the Center for Consumer Research and Analytics, where he guides students in consulting with real clients. Prior to coming to Ohio University, he worked in consulting at the University of Texas-Pan American and worked as an external consultant for the Asian Development Bank for three years.

“We are proud to announce the creation of the Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council. Each council member brings his or her experience, expertise, and perspective as a recognized diversity and inclusion leader to our organization’s commitment to support racial equity and economic inclusion,” said Diana Starks, vice president of people and culture, and director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion at the Cleveland Fed.

The council’s contributions to the Cleveland Fed, which is part of the Federal Reserve, benefit both bank employees and the communities the bank serves in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky.
