OHIO’s Dr. Mateo Remsburg to be featured in Higher Ed Live recruitment panel on Aug. 19

Ohio University’s new assistant vice president for enrollment management and director of undergraduate admissions, Dr. Mateo Remsburg, will be featured in the relaunch of the Higher Ed Live podcast, with its new episode, “Leaving a Legacy by Walking Away from One: Why a Return to ‘Normal’ Won’t set You Apart,” streaming on Aug. 19.

The panel will discuss how returning to pre-pandemic strategies may seem easy and comfortable but may not provide the progress you want to make for your institution and profession, as well as ways to build a comprehensive recruitment plan that combines historically successful strategies with new and innovative initiatives developed in response to the pandemic.

“I’m honored to have been asked to speak on this panel and provide insight to newer approaches to recruitment and ways we’ve found success through innovative engagement,” Remsburg said. “I hope audiences listening really think about the ways they’re recruiting and that especially over the last 15 months, how things have changed and how institutions need to adapt to overcome these challenges when it comes to recruitment.”

Remsburg will join guest panelists Elora Thomas, director of admissions at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and Dixie Williams, the new assistant vice president of enrollment management at Columbia College to share approaches for recruitment ranging from video-based content planning to virtual engagement with campus communities. The panelists will focus on new strategies, how recruitment should actually look different, and how to engage young professionals in the office to implement new initiatives for their own professional development.

They will also discuss how they’ve worked within internal decision-making processes at various institutions and have made an impact with limited strategies, building their own legacies as innovative leaders in the field.

“Ohio University is fortunate to have Dr. Remsburg on our team to advance our recruitment and admission efforts,” Candace Boeninger, vice president for enrollment management, said. “His experience and expertise will make a great addition to Higher Ed Live’s podcast and will surely provide professional growth for other higher education leaders.”

The podcast can be heard on Higher Ed Live or Apple Podcasts starting Aug. 19.
