Bobcats Helping Bobcats Faculty Appreciation Social

Ohio University’s Office of the President, Office of the Provost, and the Office of the Dean of Students are hosting a Bobcats Helping Bobcats Faculty Appreciation Social on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the 1804 Room on the fifth floor of the Baker University Center.

The event is an opportunity for faculty to connect with colleagues from across the University and learn more about the Bobcats Helping Bobcats programs.

Bobcats Helping Bobcats programs provide a way for students, staff, and faculty to support students who are experiencing emergencies that may impact their overall well-being and ability to succeed in college.  Programs include the Cats’ Cupboard, Meal Bank, Cap & Gown Loan Program, Emergency Microgrants, and Housing Help.

“Faculty have been an essential partner in referring students to the Bobcats Helping Bobcats Programs.  When student’s basic needs are not met, they often struggle in the classroom and beyond.  Strengthening the partnership between faculty and the Office of the Dean of Students is critical in helping students succeed,” Interim Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Patti McSteen said.

The featured Bobcats Helping Bobcats program for the September Faculty Appreciate Social is the Cats’ Cupboard, a choice food pantry for students, staff, and faculty located in Baker University Center. Attendees are encouraged (but not required) to bring a donation to the Cats’ Cupboard Food Pantry. Donations can be in the form of a food or personal care item or a small ($1) monetary donation.

“Faculty help our students by identifying students in need and referring those students to one or more of the programs. The role that faculty play in letting students know about these programs is vital,” said Associate Provost for Faculty Development Katie Hartman.  “Our goal for the Bobcats Helping Bobcats Faculty Appreciation Social is to simply thank faculty for promoting and supporting the programs.”

Faculty are encouraged to stop by the 1804 Room anytime between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 22 for conversation and cupcakes.
