Scripps offers new strategic communication management online graduate certificate
Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication announced a new online graduate certificate in strategic communication management. Designed for professional communicators who work in advertising and public relations, the certificate can act as a stand-alone credential or be combined with other certificates and coursework toward a master’s degree in communication.
The certificate will provide the perspectives, theories, and communication skills needed for success in a communication manager position. Students will learn to work more efficiently with in-house and external agencies by developing expertise in selecting optimal communication strategies, evaluating the potential success of programs and writing professional-grade reports and other content.
Totaling 12 credit hours, the certificate consists of three courses: Strategic Communication Fundamentals; Strategic Communication Management; and Media Planning Fundamentals. The courses will be offered throughout the academic year.
This is the newest online graduate certificate offered by the college. Other certificates (which can also be combined toward a master’s degree in communication) include crisis communication, digital media innovation and transformation, interactive with the media for non-journalists, and interactive with the media for STEM professionals.
