Test for COVID-19 before resuming campus activities

Ohio University faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to take an asymptomatic COVID-19 test before resuming campus activities after the winter break closure. All students on the Athens campus are required to test before returning to campus, and those on regional campuses are strongly encouraged to do so.

“With individuals returning to our campuses from all over the country and the world, it is important that we identify as many infections as possible before people bring the virus to campus,” said Gillian Ice, special assistant to the president for public health operations.

On the Athens campus, tests are available by appointment at the CVS campus testing center starting Monday, Jan. 3. Appointments are available at the Vault Health testing center starting Wednesday, Jan. 5. Students, faculty, and staff on regional campuses can pick up an at-home Vault Health test.

After testing, Ice recommends refraining from attending events and gatherings until receiving a negative test result. “This is something we can all do to protect our campus communities,” she said.

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days are not required to test. Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have not reported it to COVID Operations should complete an incident report.
