New Scripps College of Communication online graduate certificate to teach media tools
OHIO’s Scripps College of Communication has added a new graduate credential to its suite of online “stackable” certificates.
The Media Tools for Professional Communication certificate is designed for professionals from all backgrounds and experience levels and teaches fundamental skills in a variety of digital storytelling platforms.
Scripps College Dean Scott Titsworth said the ability to utilize digital storytelling tools has become an essential element for professionals across industries.
“Unless you have a background in media, you likely haven’t learned how to produce a podcast or create a professional-grade video package,” Titsworth said. “This certificate will provide the foundation people need to start creating the kind of product employers and clients expect.”
The 12-credit hour certificate can be completed alone or combined with another certificate and capstone experience to “stack” toward the online master of communication degree. Courses are seven weeks long and focus on three main short-form storytelling platforms: video production, animation and podcasting.
Applications are accepted for all entry terms throughout the year. No GRE is required for admission and a 5% scholarship is available for alumni and military service members.
