Heather Krugman named Executive Director of Business Services

Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Mark Heil has named Heather Krugman the new Executive Director of Business Services at Ohio University.

As part of her new role, Krugman will oversee the work of the Business Service Center Initiative. The position also includes a dotted line to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost to help provide and strengthen business services support and communication across each of OHIO’s academic colleges.

Krugman, who currently serves as the senior executive officer in the Scripps College of Communication, has more than 24 years of higher education experience working in strategy, finance, human resources and operations at Ohio University.

She has worked in several offices and departments at OHIO, including serving under the Executive Vice President and Provost as the Deputy Director of Academic Budget and Planning from 2014-2017. Krugman was named as an Ohio University Outstanding Administrator in 2016 and created a business services center for the Scripps College of Communication in 2018.

“Heather Krugman has the vision and expertise needed to expand the business services work already in place. She knows our administrative processes quite well and will continue focusing on customer service and process improvements for the end user,” Heil said. “Heather knows people are our most valuable resource, and I look forward to working with her as we roll out new ways to enhance our business services.“

The appointment as Executive Director of Business Services is a result of a national search led by Professor of Engineering Dr. Zaki Kuruppalil and Executive Director of Treasury Operations Tina Payne.

“I am grateful to Dr. Zaki Kuruppalil, Tina Payne and all of the members of the search committee for their hard work and commitment as we moved throughout the search process,” Heil said.

Ohio University’s Business Service Center Initiative was created by President Hugh Sherman in 2021 in order to improve service and simplify processes across the University. The new Business Service Center will begin its work by focusing on the areas of purchasing, travel, PCards, budget and analytics and human resources.

“I am very pleased to see Heather Krugman moving into this key role at Ohio University,” Scripps College of Communication Dean Scott Titsworth said.  “Her knowledge and dedication benefited the Scripps College, our students, faculty and staff in countless ways, and I am confident that her collegiality, commitment to help others, and attention to detail will be critical in the successful launch of the Business Service Center.”

Krugman will be leaving the role of Senior Executive Officer in the Scripps College of Communication. Her first day as Executive Director will be November 1, 2022.
