Anne Valeant to serve as director of operations, strategy and partnerships in the Scripps College of Communication
The Scripps College of Communication has selected Anne “Annie” Valeant to be the next director of operations, strategy and partnerships in the dean’s office. A two-time OHIO alumna with extensive experience in student success and industry partnerships, Valeant has focused on mentoring and building experiential learning opportunities.
“I am honored and excited to work with and for the team at Scripps School of Communication,” Valeant said. “I am confident my experience working in higher education as both a faculty member and administrator fits well in this new role. I would like to thank Dean Scott Titsworth and members of the hiring committee for providing me with this opportunity.”
Valeant comes to Scripps from the College of Business, where she serves as the executive director of the community-owned, student-operated Southern Ohio Copperheads summer collegiate baseball team. In this role, Valeant oversees relationships with over 40 local businesses and various departments on Ohio University’s campus.
“We are excited to have Anne join the college.” Dean Scott Titsworth said. “As we continue to expand our distinctive portfolio of experiential learning programs, Anne’s expertise in this area will be extremely valuable. Her history of having vibrant connections with industry and community partners will also be important for all of our programs. Anne’s experiences as a student success professional and as a faculty member will be an obvious asset as she looks for opportunities for students, faculty, and programs in the college.”
The director of operations, strategy and partnerships works with the dean to create and enact broad strategies to improve the college’s reputation, operations and relationships within the university community and beyond. The role includes responsibility for overseeing new programs, identifying potential revenue-generating activities, and managing planning and operations of the non-academic areas of the college.
In addition to her role with the Copperheads, Valeant teaches sport management courses including the senior capstone class that emphasizes real-world experience. Her previous experience at OHIO includes roles in career placement, global and domestic consulting and student advising. Before coming to Ohio University, Valeant spent four years as a faculty member and NCAA Division II coach at the University of Charleston. Over the last twenty years, Valeant has planned and worked dozens of major sporting events including the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and multiple Super Bowls and New York City Marathons.
Valeant will begin her new role on June 12.
