Lisa Flowers-Clements to serve as director of the Multicultural Center

Interim Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Russell Morrow has announced that Lisa Flowers-Clements will serve as the Director of the Multicultural Center within the Ohio University Division of Diversity and Inclusion. Her appointment to the position begins Monday, Oct. 9, 2023.

A two-time alumna, Flowers-Clements comes to the role with a wealth of professional knowledge and Ohio University experience. She has earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and teaching and a master’s of education from OHIO.

Flowers-Clements originally joined Ohio University in 2014, and she has spent the last five years within the Division of Diversity and Inclusion. 

“Lisa’s experience, passion, and commitment to multicultural student success have well positioned her to serve in this role. The Division of Diversity and Inclusion is excited to see the impact of her leadership on the Multicultural Center and the greater University community,” said Morrow. 

The Multicultural Center provides students with a diverse range of educational, social, and cultural programs and opportunities. The Center houses the LINKS Program and the OHIO Men of Excellence Network, programs that help multicultural students transition to life at OHIO, find support, mentorship, and community. The Multicultural Center also supports University-wide history and Heritage Month programming and hosts the annual Multicultural Student Expo, where new and returning students have the chance to connect with various student organizations. 

“I am thrilled to begin this role and to work with our amazing staff to create a space for students to thrive, create and become change agents,” said Flowers-Clements. “It is very exciting to be part of a space that has a rich history of serving students.”
