OHIO students encouraged to apply for Undergraduate Experiential Learning Awards
Ohio University is committed to putting experiential learning within reach for all students. Supported by the Career and Experiential Learning fee, undergraduate students are encouraged to apply for the Undergraduate Experiential Learning Awards.
Students across all Ohio University campuses can apply for financial support in any amount between $100-$1000. The funding application deadline is Oct. 20 for opportunities between December 1, 2023 and December 30, 2024.
The grants are intended to:
- Enhance access, recognizing the positive retention and persistence outcomes for underrepresented groups
- Foster an inclusive environment in experiential learning settings
- Increase experiential learning offerings that align with the University’s definition
- Encourage collaboration across units
- Maximize the impact of the Undergraduate Career and Experiential Learning fee
Applicants must demonstrate the opportunity meets Ohio University’s definition of Experiential Learning: an approach to education that emphasizes engaged student learning through preflection, direct experience, and reflection to increase knowledge, develop skills, and elucidate values. Experiential learning activities (community engagement, internships, leadership, research, creative activity, and study abroad/away) are intentionally designed to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes through experience related to a field.
