OHIO faculty invited to join Mentor Leaders Learning Together Faculty Learning Community
Ohio University will again offer the Mentor Leaders faculty learning community (ML-FLC) in spring 2024 to provide training and support for any full-time OHIO faculty interested in serving as a formal or informal faculty mentor to other faculty.
The six-part workshop series is designed to provide OHIO faculty with the skills and knowledge to become more effective faculty mentors. Topics will include the value/benefits of mentoring, organizational culture, social identity, appreciative mentoring, and mentoring goals. The Mentor Leaders FLC will meet virtually and synchronously on MS Teams on the following schedule:
- Six, 80-minute sessions
- 2nd and 4th Thursday/month (beginning on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024)
- 12:30 – 1:50 p.m.
At the end of the FLC, faculty participants will be invited to either sign-up to serve as a mentor for one (or more) existing mentorship programs or to propose a new faculty mentor program for the University, their college, and/or their department/school. Participants who successfully complete the faculty learning community and sign-up to serve as a mentor or propose a new faculty mentor program will earn a small stipend.
The FLC is sponsored by the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. The 2023 – 2024 program will be led by Dr. Dwan Robinson (Associate Professor, Educational Studies) and co-convened with Dr. Beth VanDerveer (Associate Professor, Recreation, Sport Pedagogy, Human and Consumer Sciences), and Dr. Dianne Gut-Zippert (Professor, Teacher Education).
