OHIO to host concerts, special events during Sibs Weekend Feb. 2-4
Ohio University is getting ready to welcome family members and friends to campus for the always popular Sibs Weekend.
This year's Sibs Weekend, hosted Feb. 2-4, invites all OHIO siblings, whether older or younger, cousins, friends or any family to visit for the special weekend.
Ohio University will host numerous engaging events throughout the weekend that offer siblings and those visiting an opportunity to embrace various fun experiences across OHIO.
The following is a sneak peek at some of the events taking place during the weekend:
- "GLOhio" - A Sibs Weekend Glow Event - From glow-in-the-dark mini golf to inflatable axe throwing, this event offers fun for all ages.
- Sibs Gaming Night - Join fellow Bobcats and sibs at the OHIO Esports Arena for gaming night. The arena will feature Mario Kart competitions and student/sib duos in Fall Guys.
- Commuter Mario Kart Sibs Weekend Tournament – All commuter students are invited to enjoy Mario Kart at Jefferson Hall 160, and they are invited to bring their siblings along to play, too.
- Sibs Weekend Campfire and Smores - Join Outdoor Pursuits for an evening of S'mores and campfire fun.
- Bobcat Family Mixer: An Event for Bobcat Parents and Supporters – This event for parents, family members and friends will be held at the Co-Lab in Alden Library.
- OHIO Men’s Basketball – The Bobcats will take on Miami University in the Convocation Center on Saturday, Feb. 3.
- OHIO Hockey – The Bobcats will face off against Pitt on Friday, Feb. 2, and Saturday, Feb. 3, in Bird Arena.
Movies and Screenings
- National Tater Tot Day and Family Movie Night at Latitude 39 - Stop by Latitude 39 to celebrate National Tater Tot Day or try the other specials and enjoy a family-friendly movie on Friday, Feb. 2.
- Special showing of “The Boy and the Heron” - The Athena Cinema is excited to present “The Boy and the Heron” for Sibs Weekend 2024. The critically acclaimed film will be shown several times throughout the weekend.
Concerts and Performances
There will be several performances held around campus including:
- Comedian Chris Redd on Friday, Feb. 2, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
- Apollo Night on Friday, Feb. 2, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Baker University Center Theatre. All Bobcats and Sibs are invited to join the Black Student Cultural Programming Board for this event, which is based on the show "Night at the Apollo," which means the audience will get to judge the quality of the performances.
- Skilla Baby & Rob49: SIBS Weekend Concert 2024 on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. DJ Bandcamp will also be featured. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m.
- Michael Kent: Comedic Magician on Saturday, Feb. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Baker University Centre Theatre.
Additional events
The weekend will also include a wide range of additional activities for Bobcats and siblings including The East End Game Night, Group Fitness and F45 Classes, a Sibs Weekend Brunch, tabletop games, hiking and zip lines.
