OUPD to host eighth-annual Department Recognition Ceremony on Feb. 13
The Ohio University Police Department (OUPD) will host its eighth-annual Department Recognition Ceremony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, in the Walter Hall Rotunda on OHIO’s Athens Campus.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; light refreshments will be provided.
Celebrating 200 years of excellence
In addition to recognizing its staff and community partners, OUPD will be kicking off its bicentennial celebration during this special event.
OUPD traces its roots back to 1824 when the Ohio University Board of Trustees made its first appointment for the security of OHIO’s campus. Today, the department is home to 31 sworn police officers, five communications officers and two clerical support staff members. Their team operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
OUPD’s Department Recognition Ceremony is open to the public, and all are welcome to join the University community in celebrating OUPD's dedicated staff, storied history and longstanding commitment to professionalism, integrity and humanity.
