Volunteers sought for Community Welcome Program

Ohio University strives to ensure that newly hired faculty feel welcome and aims to empower them to thrive at Ohio University. The Community Welcome Program was created to assist newly hired faculty with their transition to Ohio University and the local community.

The Office of the Provost and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion are seeking volunteers to assist newly hired faculty with identifying University and community resources, including (but not limited to) real estate/housing, physical/mental health services, family/childcare services, spiritual/religious services, and/or community service organizations. Participants may also volunteer to serve as a resource for a specific population or geographic area.

Volunteers are expected to be available virtually (via email, phone, etc.) periodically during Summer and Fall 2024 to answer questions, provide advice, and/or refer newly hired faculty to Ohio University and/or local community resources and services.

To volunteer to participate in the Community Welcome Program, please contact Vice Provost for Faculty Development Katie Hartman via email at hartmank@ohio.edu no later than May 31, 2024. In your email, please indicate a list of resources and/or communities for which you are willing to provide advice and support.
