OHIO offers wide range of transportation services for students, faculty, staff
Ohio University is a pedestrian-friendly campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
While there are approximately 6,000 parking spaces on the Athens campus, many Bobcats may choose to walk or use one of OHIO’s numerous transportation services that connect users to campus, local and regional destinations. These services include:
- CATS Daily Campus Shuttles - This free shuttle service for students, faculty/staff and visitors travels to multiple destinations throughout campus. The service runs on dedicated transit routes Mondays through Fridays during the fall and spring semesters. Members of the OHIO community can track shuttles in real-time using the TripShot app.
- Evening and Weekend Campus Shuttles (CATS Late Night) – The CATS Late Night Shuttles are a free, on-demand transit service for all OHIO students, faculty and staff, providing a safe and secure method of travel across campus. Rides can be requested in advance or on-demand in the TripShot app.
- Athens Public Transit (Bobcat Pass) - The Bobcat Pass Program is a partnership between Ohio University and the City of Athens that enables faculty, staff and students to ride Athens Public Transit routes free of charge utilizing their University ID. Riders simply present their valid University ID to bus drivers at designated APT routes for unlimited fare travel.
- Accessible Transit Service (CATCAB) - CATCAB is a free para-transit service to assist faculty/staff and students with mobility limitations. This service addresses the topography challenges on the campus of Ohio University by providing door-to-door transportation with fully accessible vehicles.
- Airport Shuttle Services
- Regional Transit (Gobus)
- Alternative Transit
Please note, the Bird e-scooters/e-bikes that were formally available on OHIO’s Athens Campus are no longer available after Bird chose not to renew its contract with Ohio University and the city of Athens over the summer.
Students who wish to have a car on campus should contact Transportation and Parking Services to determine the permit option that best supports their parking needs.
