Bird Ice Arena temporarily closed due to unexpected facility equipment issue
Ohio University Facilities Management and Well-Being and Recreation have announced that Bird Ice Arena, located at 102 Oxbow Trail, has been temporarily closed to accommodate repairs for an unexpected facility equipment issue related to maintaining the arena’s ice.
The closure is planned to extend through the remainder of 2024, and the facility is currently estimated to reopen in January 2025. Both Facilities Management and Well-Being and Recreation are working diligently with their partners to complete repairs that will enable the facility to reopen as soon as possible.
Project updates will be shared with the University and Athens community via OHIO Today and ohio.edu/recreation/bird as repairs progress.
