OHIO Transportation and Student Mail Services to offer modified hours during holiday, winter break closures
Ohio University’s popular fixed route and on-demand transportation offerings CATS and CATS Late Night, which are free for students, faculty and staff, will have modified service hours during the upcoming holiday and winter break closure periods.
The Accessible Transit Service (CATCAB) and Student Mail Services will also have modified service hours during these closure periods.
Campus Transit Schedules
CATS Daily Campus Shuttles
CATS Daily Campus Shuttles provide dedicated transit routes across campus. Standard service hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. during fall and spring semesters.
Thanksgiving Break service
The service will not operate during Thanksgiving break from Thursday, Nov. 28, through Friday, Nov. 29.
Winter Break service
CATS will operate in an on-demand fashion over winter break Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Riders should call or text 740-593-4040 to schedule a ride.
University Winter Break Closure service
CATS will not be in operation during the University’s Winter Break Closure from Wednesday, Dec. 25, through Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Evening and Weekend Campus Shuttles (CATS Late Night)
Evening and Weekend Campus Shuttles (CATS Late Night) is a free, on-demand transit service for all OHIO students, faculty and staff, providing a safe and secure method of travel across campus. Standard service hours are Monday through Friday, 5:30 – 11 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 6 – 11 p.m. during fall and spring semesters.
Thanksgiving Break service
CATS Late Night will not operate from Wednesday, Nov. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024: standard service will resume at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Winter Break service
CATS Late Night will not operate beginning Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, through Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. Standard service operations will resume Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.
Accessible Transit Service (CATCAB)
Accessible Transit Service (CATCAB) is a free para-transit service to assist students, faculty and staff with mobility limitations. Service hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. during Fall and Spring semesters.
Thanksgiving Break service
The service will not operate during Thanksgiving break from Thursday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Nov 30.
Winter Break service
During winter break, CATCAB will be available Monday - Friday, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
University Winter Break Closure service
CATCAB will not be in operation during the University’s Winter Break Closure from Wednesday, Dec. 25, through Wednesday, Jan. 1
Athens Public Transit (Bobcat Pass)
Athens Public Transit (Bobcat Pass) is a partnership between Ohio University and the City of Athens that enables students, faculty and staff to ride Athens Public Transit (APT) routes free of charge utilizing their University ID. Thanksgiving Break service
Bobcat Pass will not be available on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28 – Friday, Nov 29, as Athens Public Transit is closed.
Winter Break service
Bobcat Pass will not be available on:
- Christmas Eve Day, Tuesday, Dec. 24
- Christmas Day, Dec. 25
- New Year's Eve, Dec 31
- New Year's Day, Jan 1

Residential Mail Center schedules
Student Mail Services supports mail service to students in residence halls via dedicated mailing centers located on each residential green. Mailing centers provide centralized processing for USPS, UPS, and FedEx deliveries.
Thanksgiving Break service
Mailrooms will have modified service hours on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from noon to 4 p.m., and will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, through Friday, Nov. 29, 2024.
Winter Break service
The Student Mail Center on South Green at MacKinnon Hall and East Green at Jefferson Hall will be closed from Monday, Dec. 16, through Wednesday, Jan. 10.
The Student Mail Center on West Green, located in Ryors Hall, will be open from Monday, Dec. 16, through Wednesday, Jan. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, aside from Winter Break Closure.
All three Mail Centers will begin regular hours starting Saturday, Jan. 11.
University Winter Break Closure service
Mail services and the Student Mail Centers will be closed during the University’s Winter Break Closure from Wednesday, Dec. 25, to Wednesday, Jan 1.
