OhioLINK announces Open Educational Resource Course Redesign Grants

Ohio University Libraries is excited to announce an OhioLINK Open Educational Resource (OER) grant program for faculty to redesign their courses and to use openly licensed, or other affordable course materials.

The OER Course Redesign Grants support student success by eliminating textbook costs, providing immediate access to course materials and continuing access to academic materials, even after graduation.

The OhioLINK $650 grant directly supports Ohio University’s LEARN Dynamic Strategy Pillar. The submission date for OhioLINK’s OER Course Redesign Grants is April 18, 2025.

Here are some guiding questions to help in the decision-making process surrounding submission to the grant program:

  • Are you interested in reducing your students’ textbook costs?
  • Would you like to make it easier for students to access your course materials?
  • Are you curious what people mean when they talk about open educational resources (OER) or open textbooks?
  • Do you find it difficult to change textbooks because you work with a team of instructors who teach a high-enrollment course, or it is difficult to redesign a course you have been teaching for years?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, but you aren’t sure how to make changes—and can’t afford the time to think about it, consider applying to OhioLINK’s Spring 2025 OER Course Redesign Grants.

Ohio University Libraries has been involved in open access and affordable learning for nearly a decade. Because of this commitment, faculty can look for more affordable learning initiatives in Fall 2025. Future initiatives include help in finding the Libraries’ existing content (books, articles, videos, film, etc.), identifying OER or openly licensed content, hosting faculty authored content (chapters, case studies, books, question banks, etc.) in OHIO’s institutional repository, and help with licensing agreements for library content.
