OHIO announces transition plans for Office of Global Affairs

As previously announced, Gillian Ice will serve as interim associate provost of global affairs at Ohio University until June 30, 2025.

After a year-long Faculty Fellowship Leave, she will return to her faculty position in the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Global Health Initiative in the College of Health Sciences and Professions.

Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Donald Leo will convene a task force during the fall semester to analyze OHIO’s international portfolio and conduct a needs assessment. He plans to launch a national search for the next Office of Global Affairs leader in spring semester.

Beginning on July 1, 2025, Haley Duschinski will serve as a Provost Faculty Fellow to oversee our key international partnerships and programs, such as the Chubu University Partnership; Gawande and Friends of India Endowments; Koshal Endowment and Lecture Series; and Tun Abdul Razak Chair. She also will help support our inbound scholars programs, including Fulbright, and international alumni relations.

Duschinski currently serves as a professor of anthropology and director of the Center for International Studies and the School of International Studies and Languages. Duschinski received her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2004 and is a legal and political anthropologist with an impressive record of scholarship and publication on law, justice and culture. She has conducted field research on these themes in Kashmir, Cambodia, Northern Ireland, and Geneva. She has published various works including her most recent book, “Palgrave Handbook of New Directions in Kashmir Studies” (2023).

Until a new leader of the Office of Global Affairs is hired, Cary Frith will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Office of Global Affairs and manage the staff. Frith has served as the chief of staff in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost since 2019. Previously, she served as interim and associate dean of the Honors Tutorial College and a faculty member in the School of Journalism.
