
Athena Cinema event to honor OHIO’s Carey Snyder on June 16

All Ohio University students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to a special event at the Athena Cinema to celebrate the life and legacy of Professor Carey Snyder.
A professor of English literature at Ohio University, Snyder passed away in March 2025.
On Monday, June 16, beginning at 7 p.m., the Athena Cinema will present a special screening of the film adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s classic novel “Mrs. Dalloway.”
Snyder was a devoted scholar and a passionate fan of Woolf and was recognized for her expertise on the novel “Mrs. Dalloway.” This year is also the 100th anniversary of the 1925 novel, which is considered one of the great works of Modernist literature.
The critically acclaimed film of the novel stars Vanessa Redgrave and Natascha McElhone.
Admission to the film is free, but tickets are required. All who attend this special event are encouraged to dress up in Roaring ’20s attire.
