AI Essentials for Educators: From foundations to impact

All Ohio University faculty are invited this fall to take part in AI Essentials for Educators, a quick-hit workshop series that demystifies AI and shows how to responsibly and effectively use it in the classroom.

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping higher education—and whether you’re a skeptic, curious explorer or early adopter, now is the time to understand what AI can do for your teaching.

Each 20-minute session introduces foundational topics, real-world applications and ethical considerations—co-facilitated by the Office of Instructional Design and OHIO faculty.

Sept. 3, 2025 | 12:10–12:30 p.m. 
Introduction to AI in Education 

New to AI? This session is your entry point. Learn key terms like “large language models” and “generative AI,” explore tools like ChatGPT and Gemini, and walk away with a basic understanding of how these technologies are already being used in higher ed. Practical AI Applications for Teaching 

Save time without sacrificing quality. This session showcases tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot for generating announcements, quizzes, and feedback. Walk through a live prompt and consider how AI can support your teaching workflow. You can find more information and register here.

Ethics and AI in Education 

Who owns the data? Can AI be equitable? What about academic integrity? Join this session for a critical discussion of the ethical challenges of using AI in education—and begin developing your own responsible-use guidelines. You can find more information and register here.

AI for Student Engagement
