Honors Tutorial College accepting applications for Faculty Fellow, Faculty Fellow for Wellness positions

Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College (HTC) is now accepting applications for two Faculty Fellow positions and for the Faculty Fellow for Wellness position.

Applications for these positions are due by Nov. 14, 2025.

HTC Faculty Fellows

The HTC is inviting applications for two new Faculty Fellow positions for the 2026-2027 academic year (with the possibility of beginning in Spring 2026).

These positions are part of a new HTC Faculty Fellows initiative designed to strategically strengthen the tutorial program, acknowledge the contributions of excellent scholar-teachers, and provide opportunities for faculty leadership within the College.

Faculty Fellows will serve for two years (with the possibility of renewal for a third year). Each Faculty Fellow will receive funds for a three-credit buy-out per academic year or overload stipend. This is a part-time appointment with an expected commitment of around five hours per week. Fellows may also apply for travel funds to present their work at national conferences.

For this inaugural call, HTC seeks applications for the following positions:

HTC Faculty Fellow for Undergraduate Research

The Faculty Fellow for Undergraduate Research will play a leading role in strengthening the culture of undergraduate research within HTC. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students and faculty in the HTC thesis process.
  • Taking the lead in HTC’s contribution to planning and executing the annual Ohio University Student Research and Creative Activity Expo.
  • Collaborating on the creation and implementation of a Summer Scholars Program for HTC students.
  • Consulting with faculty, students and staff to identify new opportunities for undergraduate research engagement.

HTC Faculty Fellow for Tutorial Policy

The Faculty Fellow for Tutorial Policy will help formalize and strengthen the tutorial system that is the hallmark of the HTC. Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining an HTC Tutorial Policy Handbook to serve as a guide for students, tutors and directors of study.
  • Developing and overseeing a regularly updated database of tutors across disciplines.
  • Benchmarking HTC tutorial policies and practices against national and international honors and tutorial programs.
  • Consulting with HTC leadership to recommend updates or new policies to enhance the tutorial experience.

Qualifications (for both positions)

  • Open to all full-time Athens campus faculty (tenured/tenure-track, instructional, research, clinical).
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Honors Tutorial program and interest in advancing the tutorial system

Ann C. Brown and Kenneth A. Holroyd Faculty Fellow for Wellness

The goal for the HTC Faculty Fellow for Wellness initiative is to create an approach for the Honors Tutorial College to implement effective, sustainable and scalable well-being/mental health support for all its students, which can serve as a model for other colleges and universities.

The HTC Faculty Fellow for Wellness will:

  1. Serve as a liaison between the Honors and Scholars programs of the HTC and the Office of the Dean of Students, other University offices and community organizations to better connect students to existing resources.
  2. Create and curate programs/workshops/trainings/other resources that enable tutorial directors of study, tutors, OHP faculty and honors staff to better understand mental health/well-being resources and engage in best practices to better serve their students.
  3. Collaborate with the RHE Wellness Faculty Fellow (recruitment concurrent with this call).
  4. Conduct or consult on assessment/research into programs piloted with the HTC.

Other possibilities for impact include:

  • Working with University and community partners to host an annual resource summit/symposium for faculty and staff that brings together mental health/well-being professionals, faculty and administrators, both on and off campus.
  • Consult on grant proposals related to the initiative.
  • Other programs and initiatives created by the Faculty Fellow in consultation with HTC leadership and staff.

The Faculty Fellow for Wellness will receive a three-credit buy out per academic year or overload stipend. This is a part-time appointment with an expected commitment of around five hours per week. Fellows will receive a modest budget for programmatic support and may apply for travel funds to
present their work on the initiative at national conferences. There is also a possibility for an academic-year undergraduate research assistant.

The initial appointment will be for two years, renewable for up to four years total.

Qualifications

  • This position is open to all full-time Athens campus faculty (tenured/tenure-track, instructional, research, clinical).
  • The successful candidate will have evidence of professional and/or scholarly interests in well-being or mental health. Experience in collaborating with campus or community partners preferred.
