OHIO students invited to participate in Meal with a Mentor Program

Ohio University’s Office of Signature Academic Experiences is excited to continue the Meal with a Mentor program into the 2025–2026 academic year.

This initiative is designed to help students connect with OHIO alumni and peers who share similar academic and career interests—all over a free, casual meal.

"It’s a low-risk networking opportunity," says Kim Jeffers, director of Signature Academic Experiences. "We have a plethora of exceptional Bobcat alumni who are eager to engage with students, but students often feel intimidated by taking that first step to connect. So, we provide a casual environment where students can ask questions and receive guidance while enjoying a free meal!"

Meals take place at Latitude 39, the student-run restaurant located in Baker University Center. The cost is fully covered by the Office of Signature Academic Experiences, in partnership with the OHIO Alumni Association.

Since the start of fall semester, 33 students and six alumni have participated in meals and have expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The Office of Signature Academic Experiences partners with academic departments to invite alumni from a wide range of academic disciplines and professional backgrounds. Upcoming meals will feature alumni with academic backgrounds in political science, English, recreation management, African American studies, and elementary education — with even more disciplines represented in the spring.
