Clery Act compliance realigned to University Compliance
Effective Nov. 17, 2025, oversight of Clery Act compliance and Business Continuity Planning at Ohio University has transitioned from Emergency Management to University Compliance within the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance (OARC). This change strengthens OHIO’s commitment to aligning compliance responsibilities with the University’s broader risk management and assurance strategies.
As part of this transition, Michael “Mike” Trout has joined University Compliance as Campus Compliance and Clery Act coordinator, reporting to Laura Myers, director of University Compliance. In addition to Clery Act compliance, Trout will assist with initiatives such as the rollout of a comprehensive conflict of interest/conflict of commitment policy and special investigations.
Trout brings extensive experience to this role, including a 28-year career in law enforcement and recent service as Safety Compliance coordinator in Emergency Management. He holds a B.S. in Sociology and an M.A. in Public Administration.
This realignment enhances OARC’s mission to provide assurance, promote accountability and support effective risk management across the University. Learn more about OARC at ohio.edu/audit-risk-compliance.
