Teaching, technology, and togetherness

Watch as the Fishers reflect on the joy of mentoring students, from young beginners to advanced performers, and how technology like Yamaha’s Disklavier is expanding what’s possible in modern music education. Katherine also shares how her work developing the Piano Safari curriculum helps shape the next generation of teachers, bringing innovation and accessibility to piano pedagogy around the world.

Christopher and Katherine also share favorite spots around town (hello, Threefold Roasters and Fluff!) and reflect on what it means to build a life—and a career—in Athens.

The pair frequently serves as featured artists and clinicians at university, community music school, and civic events nationwide. Together, the Fishers exemplify the artistry and scholarship that define OHIO’s School of Music.

Bringing world-class sound home to OHIO

In the video, the Fishers perform on one of two Steinway Model D, 9-foot concert grand pianos housed in Glidden. Before its arrival at OHIO, this piano spent several years as part of Steinway’s elite Concert Artist Program. These rare instruments are chosen for their exceptional sound and touch, then used by world-renowned performers in top-tier venues like Carnegie Hall. After their time in the spotlight, they’re offered to select institutions like Ohio University. See and hear this piano come to life in the hands of the Fishers.
