Ohio University gives final approval to two policies, invites feedback on interim policies

The Ohio University Executive Staff Policy Committee (ESPC) and OHIO President Lori Stewart Gonzalez have moved four policies forward and placed three policies up for community review.

The ESPC gave approval the following policies on Nov. 21, 2025, and President Gonzalez granted approval on Dec. 1, 2025, and Dec. 2, 2025.

Policies given final approval

  • Policy 31.001: External Communications - Ohio University is dedicated to effective communication with its various audiences, including current and prospective students, parents, and families, as well as alumni and friends through whatever practical means are relevant and available.
  • Policy 03.004: Sexual Misconduct and Other Sexual Misconduct - Ohio University is committed to providing a workplace, educational environment, and programs and activities that are free from sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct.

Policies approved for interim use and placed in 30-day review period

  • Policy 44.119: Video Surveillance Systems - This policy regulates the installation and use of video surveillance systems for safety and security purposes in public and semi-public areas on the Athens campus of Ohio university.
  • Policy 19.048: Research Misconduct – The  purpose of this policy is to establish an administrative process for dealing with misconduct in research, or allegations thereof, so that the integrity of work conducted at Ohio University is maintained, and so that Ohio University complies with federal regulations for institutional oversight of scientific misconduct, specifically as set forth in 42CFR50 for PHS supported research, particularly 42CFR50.103(d)(13,) and 45CFR689 for NSF supported research.

Policy placed in 30-day review period

  • Policy 41.121: Reimbursement for Official Travel and Entertainment - Section 126.31 of the Revised Code enables employees of the university to be reimbursed for actual and necessary travel and other expenses incurred while attending a gathering, conference or convention or while performing official duties related to university business inside or outside the state of Ohio if authorized by the university. This policy governs the travel of faculty, staff, non-employees and official guests.
