OHIO to host special events, performances for Sibs Weekend

Ohio University will celebrate Sibs Weekend 2026 on Feb. 6-8 with a wide variety of events for Bobcats and their siblings.

While it may be cold outside, OHIO’s Athens Campus will be alive with outstanding performances and special events featuring sports, space flight and even the Super Bowl.

Also during the weekend, all Bobcat Siblings can eat for free (as long as their Bobcats have valid meal plans) with their Bobcat Sib’s meal swipe at Nelson Dining Hall, the District on West Green or Earl’s Coop.

Sibs Weekend is part of a series of special weekends OHIO hosts throughout the year. Moms Weekend will be held this year on April 10-12, 2026, and the full schedule for Family Weekend for the 2026-27 school year is listed on the Family Weekends Website.

Friday, Feb. 6

Scholastic Book Fair – All members of the OHIO community are invited to join the Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education for a four-day long Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair will begin on Thursday, Feb. 5 and continue through Sunday, Feb. 8 in the lobby on the first floor of Patton Hall. The book fair will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, and noon-3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can read more about the Book Fair here.

Heroes In Color: BLADE – The Athena Cinema will kick off its third annual Heroes in Color film series with the action movie, “Blade,” beginning at 7 p.m. This event will include a pre-show trivia contest. Admission is free but tickets are required. You can find more information here.

New Student and Family Programs Presents “Sibs Weekend Friday Movie Night” – The Addams Family – This special event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Athena Cinema. Admission is free, but tickets are required. You can find more information here.

Apollo Night – The annual Apollo-style variety show will be hosted by OHIO graduate and comedian Mr. Bankshot beginning at 8 p.m. in the Baker University Center Theater, located on the second floor of Baker.

Sibs Social - Sibs Social is a fun, relaxed evening where students can bring their siblings to campus to hang out and make memories together. They will enjoy fresh popcorn, candy, a movie and a variety of games, plus take home a special keepsake to remember the night. The event begins at 8 p.m. in the Baker University Center Ballroom.

Saturday, Feb. 7

Sibs Weekend Button and Magnet Making: Bring Your Own Art – All Bobcats and sibs are invited to this fun event, which will be held from 10 a.m. until noon in the fourth floor lobby of Alden Library.

Sibs Weekend F45 - Experience F45's high energy functional training in this special Sibs Weekend activity. Two sessions will be available in the Ping Student Recreation Center. No fitness experience is necessary and all levels are welcome. Registration opens 23 hours before the class starts, and spaces are limited. You can register and find more information here.

Sibs Weekend: Climb With Us - Whether you're first-time climbers or experienced boulderers, come challenge yourselves and create memories. All equipment provided. This event will be held from noon until 5 p.m. at the Climbing Wall in the Ping Student Recreation Center.

OHIO Women's Basketball versus Old Dominion – The basketball game begins at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center. You can find more information here.

Space Flight OHIO – Distinguished Professor Dr. Sarah Wyatt will be lead interactive activities about gravity for OHIO students and their grade K-7 sibs. Don't be afraid to join with sibs older than seventh grade though, as the activities will be fun for all ages. All members of the OHIO community are invited to the event, which will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Front Room Coffee House in Baker University Center.

Pickleball For a Purpose: SEOYM Sibs Weekend Pickleball Tournament - Southeast Ohio Youth Mentoring (SEOYM) is hosting a doubles pickleball tournament during Sibs Weekend to raise funds for local youth mentoring programs. The tournament will be held from 3-6 p.m. at the Athens Community Center. You can find more information and register for the tournament here.

GLOHIO: Presented by the University Program Council – GLOHIO is an electrifying glow-in-the-dark experience that will be held in the Baker University Center Ballroom from 5-8 p.m. This event is free to all students and their family members.

Sunday, Feb. 8

Super Bowl Party at The District - Watch the Super Bowl with your friends at The District, beginning at 5 p.m. at The District on West Green.
