Kathy Fahl named interim Vice President for Student Affairs at Ohio University

Ohio University has named Kathy Fahl as interim Vice President for Student Affairs. Fahl will assume this role following the planned departure of current Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Lyn Redington, effective August 17, 2026.

Fahl currently serves as Associate Vice President and Dean of Students and has been a steady and student-centered leader at OHIO, with deep experience supporting student success, wellbeing, and engagement. She will work closely with Redington during the transition to ensure continuity in leadership and ongoing support for students and staff.

“Kathy is a trusted and respected leader who brings a deep commitment to our students and a strong understanding of the student experience at OHIO,” said President Lori Stewart Gonzalez. “Her leadership, compassion and operational expertise make her exceptionally well-suited to serve in this role. I am grateful for her willingness to step forward and continue advancing our work in support of the student experience.”

President Gonzalez also expressed appreciation for Redington’s leadership and impact.

“I want to thank Lyn for her dedicated service to Ohio University and for the meaningful contributions she has made to our students and community,” Gonzalez said. “Her leadership has strengthened the Division of Student Affairs and enhanced student success in lasting ways. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.”

During her tenure, Redington has led key initiatives to enhance student support services, foster belonging and strengthen the overall student experience at OHIO.

“It has been an honor to serve Ohio University and to work alongside such talented colleagues and inspiring students,” said Redington. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and confident that the Division of Student Affairs will continue to thrive under Kathy’s leadership.”

Fahl has served as Dean of Students since 2022 and brings more than two decades of experience in higher education and student affairs. She is widely recognized for her collaborative leadership style and her dedication to supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.

“I am honored to serve as interim Vice President for Student Affairs and to continue working on behalf of OHIO’s students,” said Fahl. “This is a community deeply committed to student success, and I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the University to build on that strong foundation and ensure our students have the support they need to thrive.”
